Dike family celebrates as Daryl Dike graduates with first class.
2 min readAmerican born Nigerian international soccer giant, Daryl Enyinnaya Dike has graduated from the prestigious University of Northern New Hampshire. This information was contained in a joint press statement issued and signed by the parents of the football star, Mr Vin and Mrs Jacinta Dike last week.
In the joint press statement, the Dike couple gave a brief history of how the journey started and abruptly stopped. According to the press statement, the family was skeptical when around 2019, Daryl suspended temporarily his education and faced his football career. His Uncle Chief Bob Dike was said to have registered his disapproval of the move by Daryl to suspend his schooling as the Dike family is known for her resilient pursuit of education to university level.
When Daryl was requested to explain why he took such a decision, not found in the academic calendar of the Dikes, he assured them that nothing was wrong and there was no cause for an alarm of any sort. He promised them that he would pick up his academic career and conclude it to its successful end in the nearest future.
Last week, the mother of the super star player of West Bromwich Albion, an English club side wrote, “Today my people, I am happy to announce that Daryl kept his promise by graduating from University of Northern New Hampshire with the highest honors -Summa Cum Laude, (highest distinction) BS in Finance”. Mrs Dike took time to thank God for the beautiful milestone achieved by her son despite his tight and strenuous schedule as an international football star.
Dike who played college soccer was in Nigeria with his parents and siblings in 2019 during the Christmas celebration. During that time, he had not been popular enough as a footballer at least in Nigeria. An Umuaka Times reporter who visited the family saw him, took a look at him and asked, “You look like a footballer, do you play football?” Dike smiled and said yes.
According to some sources Umuaka Times came across last week, “Dike played college soccer for the University of Virginia and was selected in the first round (5th overall) of the 2020 MLS Super Draft by Orlando having already signed a Generation Adidas contract. On January 1, 2022, Dike signed for an undisclosed fee with an English club. On January 16, Dike made his debut for West Bromwich Albion, coming on as a substitute in a 1–0 loss to Queen’s Park Rangers”.
Umuaka Times congratulates Daryl Dike for the great achievement and wishes him a successful career.
