Dr Austin Agbahiwe ambushed by social beggars.

2 min read

The moment Dr Austin Agbahiwe, a high profile Akalite, arrived at the Eburuaja Stadium during the burial of late Mrs Roseline Ego-Oyibo Ikwubuo, the MC who was anchoring the event started to announce his name repeatedly. As he was coming in, he waved at the MC and other entertainers who were out to welcome him to the arena in a special way.

Agbahiwe who moved straight to the VIP canopy spent about an hour at the event and decided to take off. The Umuaka Times reporter who was following him to interview him about the burial of the matriarch of the Ikwubuo family, could not establish any link directly with him due to the presence of several dancers, security men and others who have ambushed him from the time he left the VIP canopy. They all gathered and besieged around him, each begging for money. He kept on giving but too bad as he gave, more people were coming to collect theirs.

Some officers had to escort him to his car. On getting to where he parked his car, he gave an uniformed security officer N500 note and a member of Ohafia War Dance snatched the money from him and the security officer gave the guy a strong chase! The War Dance boy ran straight to where his fellow Ohafia War Dancers were seated and they all stood up for him and protected him.

Asked to explain what happened, he claimed that it was he that Dr Agbahiwe gave the money and not the security man. On hearing this, the security man who was armed with a long gun got very provoked and insisted that the money should be returned to him. The Ohafia boys dared him to do his worst.

The Umuaka Times reporter who witnessed the incident called the him out, spoke a few words to him and that was the end.
