Saturday 30 January 2026 was a great day in Amiyi Akah Autonomous Community. Venue was the palace of the royal father of the community HRH Eze Francis Okechukwu Ahanotu, the Iyi 1 of Amiyi and a barrister at law. Members of the audience included the Amiyi Akah Council of Chiefs and their lolos. Also present were some selected women from Amiyi Akah and other guests from other parts of Umuaka.  The people gathered at the palace to bestow honour to whom honour is due and in today’s event, honour was due for Doctor Francis Opara who took the chieftaincy title of Ugochibueze 1 of Amiyi Akah and his wife Barrister Mrs. Vivian Patricia Opara took the title of Ugo Diya 1.

Umuaka Times reporters who covered the event arrived at the palace of the Amiyi monarch by some minutes after 10 am. Few minutes after, Doctor Francis Opara and his wife were then ushered into the palace by some traditional music makers who did that with egwuogene. As a remarkable event, the Iyi also danced his way to the palace to the admiration of all. After the royal dance by the Iyi, he then went straight to his position and sat down. As the tradition demanded, everyone stood up and the royal father was greeted and the event officially began.

The next thing was the presentation and blessing of kola nuts by the host royal father. The kola nuts were served and after that, a member of Amiyi Akah Council of Chiefs took the time to make an opening remark. In the remarks, he welcomed the people and went ahead and reminded them why they all gathered at the palace for such an event.

EzeIyi also spoke about the benevolence of Doctor Francis Opara who according to the monarch has been giving palliatives and empowerments in the community for the last 10 years. Umuaka Times reporters gathered that it will be very hard to quantify the good works of Doctor Francis Opara to the community. The citation of the chieftaincy title holder was read and everyone was stupendously impressed by the charity works of the gentleman.

The royal father of Acharaji Akah HRH Eze Ken Uzoho who was a special guest during the event came a bit late to the event. As they were waiting for his arrival, EzeIyi ordered that the palliatives brought by Doctor Francis Opara be shared among the beneficiaries. Iyi himself administered the sharing as he was the one who was calling out the names of the beneficiaries. Those who benefitted from the palliatives received some cloths (wrappers) and a bag of rice each. Doctor Francis Opara and his wife personally handed the items to the beneficiaries. As he was handing the palliatives to the women, he was also giving some of them cash gifts.

By the time the giveaway segment of the event came to an end, the First Lady of Amiyi Akah otherwise known as Ugoeze Vera Ahanotu made a presentation which lasted about 6 minutes or more. Her speech marked the end of the first segment of the event as the royal father HRH Eze Francis Ahanotu and his counterpart HRH Eze Ken Uzoho who had arrived some minutes ago moved to the next segment where the chieftaincy bestowing ceremony took place.

At this segment, Doctor Francis Opara was called upon by the royal father of the community who after making some pronouncements bestowed on him the prestigious title of Ugochibueze 1 of Amiyi Akah and his wife was bestowed with the title of Lolo UgoDiya 1.

The couple made an acceptance speech at the end of the event and made a donation to the community, Amiyi Council of Chiefs and the Ugoeze. The event came to an end when the Amiyi royal father, made closing remark.

Some of the chiefs who spoke to Umuaka Times confirmed that Doctor Francis Opara has been a strong pillar for the development of Amiyi Akah and they prayed to God to continue to bless him and his entire household. What an honour bestowed to an illustrious son and his wife by his people.
