2 min read

Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah last week held talks with the Managing Director of the NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd, Barrister Justin Uzoma Ezeala who paid an official visit to the state. The meeting was largely to hold talks on the opportunities available in the state. Umuaka Times gathered that during the meeting, talks were held on how NNPC can “provide support and expertise of how gas as a transition fuel can be utilized to rapidly industrialize not only Enugu State but the South East as a whole.”

Barrister Ezeala confirmed to Umuaka Times that the meeting also explored new avenues to “providing efficient energy solutions to the proposed Enugu New City and significant industries in the state.”

The visit of Barrister Ezeala to Enugu State Umuaka Times gathered will in no distant time kick start the South East Gas Investment Summit. Enugu State will exclusively play host to the summit.

A top voice in the petroleum sector who spoke to Umuaka Times last week on the visit, appealed to Governor Mbah to fully embrace the opportunities the visit of Barrister Ezeala to the state has provided and create maximum opportunities in the state as Enugu State is already on her path to petro-economic greatness.

It can be recalled that during the era of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu State was enlisted as an oil-producing state. Despite the discovery of oil in Enugu State, it is also confirmed that the state capital has made some giant strides in business and economy where “textile manufacturing, food processing, lumbering, soft-drink bottling, brewing, and furniture manufacturing” contribute seriously to the economy.
