Eze Ahanotu gives vote of thanks…hails Bishop Ukwuoma.
2 min readThe Amiyi-Akah Autonomous Community royal father, HRH Eze Francis Ahanotu has thanked the Catholic community of Amiyi and the entire Amiyi- Akah Autonomous Community for their commitment and different roles they played during the relocation exercise of St Saviour’s College Umuaka to the Amiyi-Akah community. The royal father who made his speech very brief expressed his deep happiness and pride towards the spirit of oneness displayed by the sons and daughters of the community in making the project a reality.
Eze Ahanotu in his speech, talked about the role played by his father the late Chief Luke Akanotu whose doggedness and resilience in the 50s made the school project a reality in 1958 during the colonial era. According to what the royal father said which Umuaka Times confirmed from some other top personalities who were present at the event, the late Chief Ahanotu spent a lot of money both in court and other avenues including paying some people for their landed properties in the then Isiozi Umuaka for them to donate their landed properties for the school project.
On the role of Bishop Ukwuoma, Eze Ahanotu hailed what he described as organizational competence and strategy of the bishop in the whole of Orlu Diocese. The monarch specifically cited the role played by the principal of St Saviour’s College during the trying times when the Imo State Government told the school to vacate from Isiozi-Akah in order to make way for a post secondary science school. He prayed to God to continue to bless those who have worked towards making sure that the school became a reality. He mentioned some prominent names from the community who committed a lot of resources to the school project.
In his final speech, Eze Ahanotu told the gathering that the entire process of relocation of St Saviour’s College to Amiyu Akah is a big blessing for the community because one of the children of the community is already a teacher at St Saviour’s College.
