The Traditional ruler, Umuele Amazano Njaba LGA, and the chairman Umuaka Ebe Iri Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness, Eze Caesar Duruegbusuo has commended the Women’s Crisis Centre WCC on her intervention programs in the community. Speaking during the familiarization tour of the group to his palace last week, when the Umuaka Ebe Iri Council of Traditional Rulers played host to the group, Eze Caesar Duruegbusuo thanked Ms Lesley Agams, the founder and the Executive Director of the group, for all her efforts to put Umuaka community in a better state through the WCC-led intervention programs.
On the issue of rape, the royal father who outrightly condemned the act also used the opportunity to appeal to everyone who comes across valid information on the menace to report such activities to the relevant authorities in the community.”Our women have their dignity and we must always respect that by making sure that rapists and other sex offenders in the community are brought to book.”
In his conclusion, the royal father assured the WCC of the support of his colleagues and their wives in fighting for the rights and dignity of Umuaka women.
