Eze Iyi, siblings receive Umuaka Times posthumous award for late dad.
2 min readThe children of the late Chief Luke Ahanotu; Emmanuel Ahanotu, a US based engineer and philanthropist, Ms May Hendrix Ahanotu and HRH Eze Francis Ahanotu, the Iyi 1 of Amiyi as well as family and friends and members of Amiyi Akah Council of Chiefs were engulfed with happiness last week Tuesday 23 January 2024 when Umuaka Times team presented the posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award to the late Chief Luke Ahanotu for his role over the establishing of High School Umuaka in 1958.
By the time Umuaka Times arrived in the Obi of the late Chief Ahanotu, all the expected guests were already seated and in no small time, Umuaka Times went straight to business. After an opening speech by Umuaka Times publisher, he called on Chief Hyacinth Madu, Akudinanwa 1 of Amiyi Akah to carry the award to the Amiyi royal father who would then present it to Engineer Ahanotu, the elder brother of the royal father. The process went as planned and Engineer Emmanuel Ahanotu received the award on behalf of the entire Ahanotu family.
One after the other, the trio of Engineer Emmanuel Ahanotu, Ms May Hendrix Ahanotu and HRH Francis Ahanotu presented their acceptance speeches and thanked Umuaka Times for the award.
For those who do not know, the late Chief Luke Ahanotu Achagba played a highly inestimable role during the foundation and establishment of Umuaka High School which was situated in Isiozi community for over 50 years.
Today, the great institution has been taken over by the Catholic Church and relocated to Amiyi community with her name as St Saviour’s Secondary School Amiyi Akah.
