Ezeala: Motorcycle ban yields positive results.
1 min readThe Obinwanne autonomous community as a sign of respect and to arrest any form of road mishap and social disorganization during the burial of the late Prof JOL Ezeala, banned the use of motorcycles by the youths for a period of two days. The two day ban which was informed by the reckless use of motorcycles by the youths of the community during events has been described as a successful measure.
Umuaka Times observed that the youths of Obinwanne strictly adhered to this ban and left their motorcycles in their various homes for the entire period of the two day ban. Most f the motorcycle boys were seen by an Umuaka Times reporter trekking within the neighbourhood during the burial ceremonies.
The motorcycle ban was highly productive as no form of motorcycle accident or acrimony between visitors and the motorcycle boys was recorded during the period.
Obinwanne youths also participated during the burial in several ways. For some time now, reckless driving of motorcycles by the entire Umuaka youths especially, those between the ages of 14 and 29, has left the community in a serious jeopardy.
