2 min readHigh profile Nigerian US based medical scientist and famous infectious disease specialist Dr Gertie Chimeka Anyanwoke has been mourning the passage of her father in-law who died a couple of months ago.
The famous doctor who plays a vital role in the fight against infectious diseases both in Nigeria and America hinted on the death of her father in-law in a chat with Umuaka Times recently.
The father in-law, HRH Eze Samuel Iheukwumere Anyanwoke (the Isiala 1 of Nsukwe Ubakala) was the royal father and monarch of Nsukwe Ubakala of Umuahia South LGA Abia State.
In her message to Umuaka Times, Dr Anyanwoke first gave all thanks to Almighty God for an impactful life well lived by the late monarch and went further to call upon all and sundry to join the family starting from April 17, 2024 to pay their last respects for the monarch as his final journey home begins on that day.
“You know my father in-law, was not an ordinary father in-law, he was a man of the people, a man of wisdom and a father and grandfather to all. He took everyone’s problem personally and attended to all who sought his advice when he was alive. We will certainly miss him for live.”
Umuaka Times also gathered that several activities have been planned to take place during the burial ceremonies of the late elder statesman, royal father and a devoted Christian leader of the Anglican Communion.
Several organizations both in the state and outside the state as well as special dignitaries are expected to play several prominent roles during the burial in honour of the man who lived well and used his position and served humanity well.
It can be recalled that in 2022, the late royal father crowned Dr Gertie Anyanwoke with the title of Opuruichie Nwanyi 1 of Nsukwe Ubakala.
Umuaka Times newspaper has been named an official newspaper for the burial of the high profile Abia monarch.
