Family and Friends mark birthday for Ugo Bu Eze Worldwide.

Saturday January 4 2025 was a great day in the entire Amiyi Akah Autonomous Community in Njaba LGA Imo State. The day in question was the day marked by God for his beloved son and servant, Chief Udo Linus Obimezie Egeolu (Ugo Bu Eze Worldwide) Nna Oma Di Ebube to host his 95 years birthday celebration. The event which was filled with fun, prayers and thanksgiving was organized by both the Nigerian and diasporan Egeolus and others to celebrate their uncle, father, grandfather, great grandfather and the patriarch of the Egeolu dynasty.
After weeks and months of intensive planning and executions, the birthday like no other was successfully held on a bright sunny day on January 4 2025.
First in the morning, His Lordship Bishop Austin Ukwuoma, the Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese celebrated a thanksgiving Mass at St Paul’s Catholic Church Amiyi Akah to give thanks to God for the life of the nonagenarian. Immediately the thanksgiving Mass came to an end, everybody moved to the field of Town School Amiyi where a lavish birthday party and reception was held in honour of the Worldwide Ugo Bu Eze.
Little by little many more guests especially those from the United States started to arrive. As they arrived, the masters of the ceremony were busy announcing their names and welcoming them in unique manners and most of the times, calling their chieftaincy title names and academic titles too. Umuaka Times and NTA reporters, the official media outlets of the event also engaged some of the VIP guests in brief interviews. They VIPs delightfully expressed their minds and state of happiness towards the event and the man behind the birthday celebration.
When a huge number of people and community based organizations had gathered, the presidents-general of Umuaka Ebe Iri were called to come and collect the birthday gifts of bags of rice to the selected people from their various communities. This exercise was done in accordance with the planning and each community was properly satisfied as they took their gifts one after the other.
The Amiyi community with her 14 villages was completely represented during the epoch-making event as Umuaka Times observed their presence in their different canopies.
The first cultural dance group then came to entertain the people after a serious preparation. The group danced and many who loved their dance went to dance with them and spread them with cash gifts. After the dance came the presentation of kola nuts by Chief Uche Egeolu on behalf of the entire Egeolu family. When the guests were done with the fun, ritual and tradition of kola nuts, the segment came to an end.
The gorilla show was perhaps the most interesting show that took place during the celebration. A very big “gorilla” which appeared, danced and moved from one canopy to another was spotted by many as it captured the attention of many. As a never before seen show in Umuaka, children who assumed that the gorilla was real kept on following the huge “animal” and adults were also busy video recording the scene. After about 15 minutes of show and performance, the gorilla disappeared from the scene.
Next was the introduction of a big name in the Nollywood entertainment industry, Mazi Uwaezuoke. The ace jester came on stage to thrill the audience. He took the centre stage as he danced from one corner to another, eliciting followership from children as he thrilled them with his looks and funny dance steps.
Then came the monorcyclist show. A man who has trained and mastered the act of monocycling and doing show with the act. He was called to thrill the audience with his monocycle.
As the monocycling show and other side attractions were going on, there was a non-stop supply of assorted foods and drinks to all the canopies. Several guests who attended the event used the occasion as a reunion exercise with family and friends as they met their loved ones during the event.
The 95th birthday celebration of Chief Udo Linus Obimezie Egeolu (Ugo Bu Eze Worldwide) Nna Oma Di Ebube was indeed a strong testimony of a man who did not only arrive in the world 95 years ago but a man who came, saw and conquered his environment with a deep fear of God.
