Family men in shock as Cub 110 motorcycle sells for N2.4 million.
2 min readPopular high performance Japanese motorcycle known as Honda Super Cub 110 now sells for the whopping sum of N2.4 million. An auto market survey expedition embarked by Umuaka Times last week showed that the prices of different motorcycle brands have tripled from the beginning of the current administration in Nigeria. The brand commonly referred to as “ladies’ machines” which Umuaka Times inquired about their prices ranged from N1.5 million to N1.8 million.
A young boy of about 25 years old who spoke to Umuaka Times last week confirmed that he bought his own at the cost of N2.3 a couple of weeks ago. According to the boy, the motorcycles are costlier in Umuaka than Nnewi. “That is what you get. Going to Nnewi to buy the bike will be a bit cheaper because you may have them remove about N100, 000 or more for you but the risk is high.”
When challenged to name the risk, the boy spoke convincingly: “Oga you see this is December period, the roads are not friendly at all. Remember what happened at Njaba Hill some weeks back where over 20 persons died. No reasonable guy will because of N100K decide to risk his life by driving a bike from Nnewi to Umuaka. Dangers such as accidents, kidnapping, armed robbery must be avoided.”
Asked to give more details why Cub 110 is costly, the “dreadlocked guy” told Umuaka Times that the bike is very strong and reliable. On the strength of Cub 110, Umuaka Times made further inquiries and discovered that Cub 110 is “Equipped with a new long-stroke engine that complies with emission regulations, the 2022 Super Cub 110 has greater ease of use and peace of mind with features such as series-first ABS, cast aluminum wheels and tubeless tires for the front and rear.”
An elderly man who overheard the conversation between Umuaka Times and the new Cub 110 owner snapped his fingers and said, “tufiakwa! No be me go use that kind money to buy a motorcycle.”
