1 min readThe former parish priest of St Mary’s Catholic Church Umuaka, Rev Monsignor John Ukwuoma has expressed his deep joy over the full parish status the Bishop of Orlu Diocese has accorded to St Patrick’s Church Obinwanne Umuaka. It can be recalled that on November 18, 2022, the Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese Rev Dr Augustine Ukwuoma was in Obinwanne Catholic community to hand over the parish to Rev Father Tony Ohams as the first parish priest of the congregation.
Monsignor John Ukwuoma who had a chat with Umuaka Times last week was among the reverend fathers who celebrated the requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Sir Dominic Nganwuchu, a devote Christen father from Obinwanne who died recently after a brief illness. According to Monsignor Ukwuoma, Obinwanne community would be great in just few years coming and the parish will as well grow stronger.
When asked to comment on the role the traditional ruler of Obinwanne Autonomous Community plays in the community, the reverend gentleman smiled and clearly stated that he was not surprised because the royal father of Obinwanne Umuaka borrowed a leaf from his late dad, the late Professor JOL Ezeala.
On his conclusion, he tasked the Christians in Umuaka to always remember St Patrick’s Church Obinwanne in their prayers so that the Almighty God will bless the new parish with rapid growth.
