Golden Jubilee: Chief Marcellinus Okorom celebrates with wife.
2 min readIt was a big fun and heavy celebration in the Okorom family Ugbele-Akah in Njaba LGA Imo State as one of the eldest sons of the family Chief Marcellinus Okorom marked his 50 years of marriage with his wife, Lolo Martina Okorom. The event was attended by many especially Catholics in the community. When Umuaka Times arrived at the family compound of the Okoroms in Ugbele-Akah, it was confirmed that it was indeed a triple event that the big Okorom family was holding. First was the Golden Jubilee celebration of Chief Marcellinus Okorom ( popularly addressed as Tango) and his wife Lolo Martina Uchechi Okorom. Another event was the child dedication by Chief Austin Awuka Okorom and finally the dedication of the country home of Chief Vincent Emeka Okorom, the Ebubedike 1 of Umuaka.
Just after spending few minutes in the Okorom family house, Umuaka Times moved to the Catholic hurch in Ugbele-Akah where the Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese, His Lordship, Rev Augustine Ukwuoma held a church service in commemoration of the golden jubilee by the Okoroms. While speaking at the event, Bishop Ukwuoma told the congregation that the event of Golden Jubilee does not always come up in the Catholic Diocese of Orlu and anytime it comes up, he would always make sure he would personally attend.
While preaching during the Mass, the bishop laid heavy emphasis on love, tolerance and forgiveness for any couple who wants to achieve the 50 years Golden Jubilee celebration.
The greatest point of the church service was when the bishop called out the couple for them to renew their marriage vow once again. They did exactly that and the bishop once again, gave them wedding rings again and they wore the rings in the presence of the congregation.
In order to encourage them on their faith, Bishop Ukwuoma presented a special Chaplet to the couple with a Golden Jubilee Certificate.
When the church service came to an end, Bishop Ukwuoma led other Catholics to the country home of Chief Emeka Okorom where he prayed, blessed and dedicated the building in the hands of God.
