The tour which had delegates from the 16 communities in Umuaka Autonomous Community gathered momentum when Hon Kizito and his team met with the  Transition Committee chairman of the local council, Hon. Emeka Ihenacho in his office.

They delegates who were made up of Hon Duru’s cabinet and women leaders had a close-door discussion with the council chairman where issues concerning the development of the local council and Umuaka were held. The meeting which was held in the chamber room of the council, began with the presentation of the traditional kola nut by the chairman.

In his opening speech, the Interim PG of Umuaka Ancient kingdom, Hon. Kizito Duru, used the opportunity to thank Hon. Ihenacho and his team for the way they have against all odds, successfully handled the affairs of the local council since assumption of office. Speaking further, Hon. Duru used the opportunity to introduce members of his executive council, the village heads, the women leader and other stakeholders to Hon. Iheanacho.

In his final note, Hon. Duru assured the Council chairman of the support and loyalty of his team in order to move Umuaka, Njaba Local Government and Imo State forward.

Members of the delegation took turns to bring to the attention of the TC chairman, issues that ranged from security, accountability in the community that require lasting solutions.

Mrs Josephine Igboanusi, the overall Women Leader in Umuaka while speaking on behalf of the women, brought to the chairman’s attention the challenges faced by women in the community. She appealed to Hon. Iheanacho to always include women in the programs of the council as women constitute a better part in the Njaba stake, capacity building as well as good agents of development. She promised to help organize the women in the successful implementation of government programs in Umuaka Ancient kingdom.

In his contributions, Mr Chidiebere Madu who serves as the Secretary of the present executive of Umuaka Ancient kingdom, used the opportunity to bring to the attention of the Council chairman, the confusion created by the appointment of Hon. Kizito Duru as the Interim President General of Umuaka Ancient kingdom. He implored Hon. Ihenacho to explain to the people present who the government recognizes as the President General of Umuaka Ancient kingdom.

In his response, Hon. Ihenacho thanked Mr Madu for the question. While stating  that administrations come and go, Hon. Iheanacho cited the case of the ousted governor of Imo State, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, who when the Supreme Court sacked,  had no option than to hand over and vacate the office for Senator Hope Uzodimma immediately. Hon. Iheanacho also cited the case of the former Njaba Local Council chairman, Hon Nwaobodo Agwubuo who also had no option than to hand over to him when he was instructed to do so. Hon. Iheanacho pointed out that all the former president generals in the communities in Njaba Local Government have complied with the government order, wondering why it is only the former PG of Umuaka, Hon. Maxwell Kelechi Ezike who is finding it difficult to comply with the government order by handing over to the new PG. According to the TC chairman, except Maxwell has something to hide, there is no reason he should find it difficult handing over to Hon. Kizito Duru. Hon. Iheanacho stated that the state government is aware of all the events taking place in Umuaka and has documented all the efforts made by the Interim PG, Hon. Kizito Duru to ensure a smooth transition in the community. He called on members of the delegation to advice the former PG to as a matter of urgency hand over to the new PG in order to avoid any government action.

On his final address, Hon. Iheanacho thanked the delegation and promised to make sure that Umuaka Ancient kingdom under the leadership of Hon. Kizito Duru, benefits from the benefits of democracy in the state.
