How Dallas big boys dominated the 2023 Christmas events in Umuaka.
3 min readThe Christmas celebrations in Umuaka during the last days of December 2023 were like no other, at least in the recent times. Akalites based in Dallas Texas in the United States of America created glamour, thrills and razzmatazz in almost every village in Umuaka they had parties during the Yuletide. The events and parties they organized really took first class in social ratings. Someone who attended most of the parties quipped to Umuaka Times and called it an intimidation by the Dallas big boys in Umuaka.
Another fellow simply said, “These guys are showing us the dollars in Dallas, does it mean that no Akalite lives in other parts of America?”
Be that as it may, Dallas big boys of Umuaka origin came prepared and they really created the glamorous atmosphere that dominated the environment at any event they attended in Umuaka during the Christmas era. Both dollars and Naira were prominently sprayed during dancing time by some of the Dallas big boys with their wives. Starting from December 24 which was penciled down for Chief Chris and Lolo Mary Anyaibewas the day the couple used to mark their Church title of Nneoma Nwere Ugo. The event was marked at their country home in Uba Umuaka.
December 28, 2023 was another day for the Akalites from Dallas when they all gathered to celebrate the chieftaincy title conferred on Dr Emeka Nwokedi and his wife, Chassis Diya. The event took place at the country home of the Nwokedis in Ibele.
Then came December 29, 2023. Chief Uzo and his wife Lolo Chinyere Ojinnaka played host to the Dallas boys and their wives in a family event which took place in Uba Umuaka.
December 31, 2023 was another great day in Ibele as the Ihemes celebrated their chieftaincy titles. On this day also, High Chief Benji Iheme received his Umuaka Times Merit Award.
The “intimidation” by the boys from Dallas did not die with the year 2023 but was able to find its roots to the early days of 2024. On January 2, 2024, Chief Linus and his wife, Lolo Nneka Okpara celebrated their chieftaincy titles in their country home in Uba. On January 3, 2024 also, the chairman of Umuaka community in Dallas Chief Nwakaibeya Odueze and the family of Oxygen marked separate events in Isiozi. On that day also, the Oduezes also received the Posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award for their late mother, Dame Cathy Odueze.
January 4, 2024 was a day for Sir Charles and Lady Ijeoma Osuh’s chieftaincy title party. This event also took place in Ibele community.
January 5, 2024, the Dallas big boys once again found their way back to Ibele as the funeral ceremonies of the father of Mr Nnamdi Nwokedi were marked.
Still on January 5, 2024, Dr Favour Awuzu and wife also marked the remembrance of their late dad. The event took place in Isiozi.
Dr Sanctus Orgazi, one of the latest chiefs in town had a party to celebrate the chieftaincy title conferred on him by Eze Caesar Duruegbusuo of Umuele Amazano. The venue was in his country home in Uba.
After the Sanctus Orgazi’s party, the next event was held in Amiyi as Mr Ifeanyi Ntakashi Nwokedi had his own party for his twins.
Come January 11, 2023, Mr Chibuzor Obilo from Umuezeala Uba will play host to his fellow Akalites in Dallas in an elaborate event for the burial of his late dad, the late Mr Bernard Obilo. Umuaka Times is indeed proud of the Akalites who showed the dollars in Dallas and also “intimidated” other lesser mortals with their dollar power. What an eventful Christmas.
