The PTA chairman of High School Umuaka Mr Duru Innocent Chucks has given a brief appreciation message to those who have so far worked tirelessly to make High School Umuaka what it is today.
In his opening speech while holding talks with Umuaka Times last week, Mr Duru extolled the virtues of Mr Kelechi Ezike, a former president-general of the community. According to Duru, when Mr Ezike started the project to locate High School Umuaka in Uba, many did not support him and he still fought like a vibrant lion and made sure the school was established in Uba community.
The next person who got a mention in the interview was a former principal of the school Mrs C. Nwaigwe. Duru praised the former principal for making sure that the school was registered and at times, the woman used her money to pay the salaries of the PTA teachers.
The Uba community generally got a part on the back for the wisdom in selecting Professor Emeka Duruigbo as the chairman of the Education Board at HSU. He also thanked the community for fencing the entire 40 plot premises of both High School Umuaka and Hilltop Primary School.
Before Mr. Innocent Duru ended his appreciation message, he took time to thank HRM Eze Henry Ojinnaka for his royal advice and encouragement towards the school. He appealed to parents in and outside Umuaka community to endeavour to enroll their children at High School Umuaka because the school has come to stay.
