Last week, 7 young lawyers from Umuaka were called to bar after completing their law degree programs at various universities in Nigeria. Each of the young lawyers spoke exclusively with Umuaka Times.

Excerpts:

My name is Chisom Evangelista Eze. I am from Ideato South but married into Achara Umuaka. I attended Kennyrose Nursery and Primary School, Lagos and later went to Joecabra International schools also in Lagos.

I did my university education at Imo State University where I did my L.L.B and later moved to Nigerian Law School, Enugu Campus for my B. L. program.

My greatest inspiration to study law is and has always been my father, Mr Chibuogwu Calistus Eze, and the need to defend the helpless, the voice to speak for the voiceless.

I would like to be in practice for a while before joining the Bench.

My journey wasn’t an easy one, I couldn’t do it without the help of God, my family at large, my consistency and determination to study law saw me through.

I was called to bar on the 8th of July, 2025 in Abuja and it was a dream come true.

My advice to young girls in Umuaka who want to read law is that, they should follow the part of education because knowledge is power. Education beautifies and brings out the best in you.

I want to say a very big heartwarming thank you to everyone who supported me one way or another, their prayers, support and pieces of advice got me this far and I couldn’t have done it without them.
