Ibazimako Dire in grief as father in-law dies at 63.

The father in-law of Chief Declan Ibezimako Dire, an American based philanthropist and businessman has reportedly died. This information was contained in a press statement issued by Chief Declan Dire to Umuaka Times last week. The man whose name was given as Mr Joseph Convington Gervais died at the age of 63. He was a native of Haiti who lived and died in New York.

Umuaka Times correspondents in New York confirmed that the activities leading to the burial of the sexagenarian in-law of the Isiozi Akah born philanthropist and a friend of the poor have already been held and interment done. From what Umuaka Times gathered, the remains of the late Gervaiswere laid in state on Friday January 23 2026 at Frantz Daniel Jean Funeral Services Brooklyn New York where friends, well-wishers and family members had the opportunity to view his remains as a mark of final respect.

On Saturday January 24, 2026 by midday, his remains were buried at St. Charles Resurrection Cemetery Farmingdale New York.The repast for the late Joseph ConvingtonGervais was held on the same day Saturday 24 January 2026 at Flatlands Buffet, Flatlands Avenue Brooklyn New York.

The late Mr. Joseph Convington Gervais is survived by Djennie Gervais Dire, the wife of Chief Declan Ibezimako Dire. Nehemiah Gervais, daughter and Mark Gervais, son.

Chief Declan Dire and his wife have since cut short their holidays in Nigeria and rushed back to the United States for the funeral activities of the man who has been described as a gentleman to the core.
