Ibele town mourns as Augustine Nwaokorobia Ahanotu dies at 84.

With profound sadness, the family of the late Chief Augustine Nwaokorobia Ahanotu has announced the passage of her son, father, husband, top community leader, chieftaincy title holder and a devout Christian father, Augustine Nwaokorobia Ahanotu. This information was contained in a heartfelt press statement signed by Mr. Stanley Ahanotu, CEO of St. Augustine’s Home PH Rivers State. The press statement which was made available to Umuaka Times outlined the funeral arrangements for the highly respected patriarch and sage.

A look at the press statement shows that a wake-keep and service of songs will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025, by 5 pm, at the family compound. On Friday August 29, 2025, the remains of the deceased will leave the mortuary in a motorcade by 7 am and arrive the family house in Ndiuhu Ibele of Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State by 8 am. Lying in state begins immediately and ends by 9:45 am. Family members are expected to lead the procession for those who would like to pay their last respect to the last Chief Augustine Nwaokorobia Ahanotu, the Omenka 1 of Ibele.
The moment the lying in state ends, a funeral Mass will hold on the same day being Friday, August 29, 2025, by 10 am, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Parish Ibele. Interment will follow immediately after the Mass at the family compound of the deceased.
The bereaved family, relations and friends will hold a thanksgiving Mass on Sunday, August 31, 2025, by 8:30 am, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Parish Ibele for a life well spent.
