Igbo lawyers in South Africa inaugurate organization, hold gala night.

It was a big event that attracted high profile personalities from Nigeria, South Africa and other parts of the world when legal practitioners of Igbo origin that are based in South Africa inaugurated an umbrella body. Although the body known as Igbo Lawyers Association South Africa ILASA, has been in existence for some time now but it was officially launched in a high profile ceremony held in the banquet hall of Johannesburg Country Club, in Sandton, South Africa.
From the submissions of Umuaka Times South African correspondents who covered the event, the Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Africa, His Excellency Ambassador Alexander Temitope Ajayi, was in attendance during the inauguration and gala night as the chief guest of honour.
Another high profile politician who was invited for the event was His Excellency Dr Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State. Umuaka Times gathered that the governor could not make it to the event but he sent a representative in the person of Chief Mike Okwudili who adequately stood in for him and spoke as the guest speaker.
Several segments of the occasion formed the highest activities that graciously greeted the event. One of such activities was the speech of the Ambassador Alexander Temitope Ajayi, who extoled the virtues of the members of the organization and assured them of the support of the embassy in making sure the objectives by which the organization was formed would be achieved.
Another segment which perhaps aptly demonstrated the ideas ILASA would pursue was the presentation of an award of excellence to the Abia State Governor, Alex Oti over his exceptionally impressive performance as Abia State Governor. The governor bagged the Game Changer Award for his outstanding and innovative performance in governance. Chief Mike Okwudili who represented the governor received the award on his behalf.
From all indices, the presentation of the inaugural address by the president of the organization, Chief Johnson Anyiam certainly sank in the minds of the audience as the main event of the night as he succeeded to holy the audience spellbound with his address. As Chief Anyiam was reading the address, the audience complimented by several rounds of applauses in appreciation of the points and conclusions the document addressed.
Indications show that Umuaka Times can authoritatively disclose that a new beginning has been launched in South Africa by Igbo lawyers in the country. This organization known as Igbo Lawyers Association South Africa has indeed created the dynamics to make the Igbo population in the country to always think home and have a sense of belonging.
During the event, the Keynote address was presented by by Dr Ike Francis Igbo.
