Imo Director of Sports calls on youths to embrace boxing etc.
2 min readThe Director of Sports in the Imo State Commission of Sports Mrs Patricia Ezeji has called on Imo youths and indeed across the country to embrace sports and discover their talents. Mrs Ezeji made this call when the Obinwanne Umuaka born boxing prodigy Samuel Hitman Akubueze paid her an official visit in her office last week.
Talking about boxing, Mrs Ezeji made a passionate appeal to Imo youths of both sexes to embrace boxing professionally and reap the gains and benefits of it. In her speech, Ezeji thanked Hitman for the official visit and expressed her willingness and the willingness of the commission to work with him and see him and others through in their careers. “Honestly I was touched. Hitman is the first sports person to ask me to pray for him since I took office as the Director of Sports in the state. I pray God to see him through. One day, we will watch him at the Madison Square Garden fighting to become the world’s heavyweight boxing champion.”
While responding to the call by Mrs Ezeji, Samuel Hitman thanked the sports director for giving him the opportunity to embrace boxing and start his trainings under Imo State Dan Anyiam Stadium.
Mrs Ezeji used the opportunity and called upon Imo youths to come up and take part in the upcoming National Sports Festival which will come up in January 2025. She encourages Samuel Hitman to train vigorously and take part in the sports festival which is “our own version of Olympics.”
