Insecurity: Pastor George suspends Umuaka medical mission.

2 min read

Umuaka Times can authoritatively reveal that the Umuaka  yearly medical outreach funded by the Pastor George Izunwa Foundation which lasts for consecutive three days will not hold in this year, 2021 due to the high spate of insecurity in the Southeast Nigeria.  This message was contained in a press release issued and signed by the lead pastor, Gateway International Church Port Harcourt, George Izunwa. Pastor George as he is fondly called by close associates, is also the Executive Director of the George Izunwa Foundation TGIF. According to the press statement which a copy of it was made available to the Port Harcourt correspondent of Umuaka Times, the foundation regrets that the medical mission was not held last year 2020, due to the Coronavirus lockdown and this year again, due to insecurity.

“We will not come to Umuaka. But we want to ask for those who have outstanding surgery issues to reach us”, Pastor George confirmed to Umuaka Times last week.

Umuaka Times also gathered from a reliable source of the foundation that the TGIF is not leaving the people of Umuaka to their fate but rather, another strategy was developed to allow the indigent and sick Akalites to access medical care through the foundation.

The 2018 medical outreach in Umuaka was a big success.

In the final note of the press statement, Pastor George advised thus, “If anyone had surgery scheduled but couldn’t pay to have it for over 3months, we will attend to them. They will come to Owerri with their medical reports. We will select 50 of such & bring them to PH for free surgeries.”

Those who have such cases Umuaka Times learnt, can reach the church or the publisher of Umuaka Times who is a member of the Pastor George Izunwa Foundation for proper actions to be taken.

Pastor George used the opportunity to appeal to Akalites to continue to remain prayerful, peaceful and avoid anything capable of creating more insecurity in the community. He finally disclosed that the dates those with surgery cases will visit Owerri for proper documentations will be announced through Umuaka Times and other media outlets in Umuaka.
