Isiozi born young medical doctor dies in his sleep.
2 min readThe Ekeh family of Isiozi Akah Njaba LGA was last week thrown into a deep mourning after her son, Dr Kelechi Paschal Ekeh, a new graduate of Medicine and Surgery from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka Anambra State was pronounced dead in a highly questionable circumstance in Anambra State. From what Umuaka Times gathered the 19 year old young doctor went to Awka to perfect his clearance documents following his successful graduation from the famous university.
It was reported last week that Kelechi travelled to Awka on Saturday, 13 January 2024 and spoke with his family last on the same date being Saturday. The following day being Sunday, several calls came to his phone which were not picked by anyone.
This development made the family uncomfortable as it eventually led to panic calls. As no one picked the calls, the family assumed that Kelechi was in church and hoped that after the church service he would return the calls. Throughout the whole Sunday and the early hours of Monday, no call came from Kelechi and nobody picked his calls as well. It was at this juncture that the family and friends started to think if he had been kidnapped or abducted by some students. Nobody had the thinking that death would eventually be the answer.
Around 9 am, the door of the room Kelechi slept in was forced open and behold, the body of a 19 year old promising Dr Kelechi Paschal Ekeh lay lifeless on bed and blood gushing out from mouth. The body had already swollen up and was about to explode. That put to an end a brief search for a boy who was known for his humility, gentility and academic brightness.
Getting home in Isiozi, no time was wasted before his internment due to the circumstances of his sudden death. Last week, several whatsapp platforms in Imo and Anambra states carried the news of his demise. Friends, family and well-wishers have all expressed deep shock over the sudden demise of Dr Kelechi Ekeh. Testimonies from those who knew him personally confirmed that Kelechi was beyond being a nice boy. “He was an epitome of what every parent would wish for his children,” someone told Umuaka Times last week.
Efforts by Umuaka Times to reach the immediate family members of the deceased proved abortive before press time last week.
