Chief Sir Godwin Emeka Bekee –Nwachukwu, the coordinator of the now famous Ignatius Echefu Nwachukwu Foundation last week spoke with Umuaka Times about the scholarship foundation and the man behind the good news. He talked about the several works of the foundation.

Excerpts:
Good evening sir. May we know you?
Thanks for coming. My name is Chief Sir Godwin Emeka Bekee –Nwachukwu, the coordinator of Ignatius Echefu Nwachukwu Education Foundation.
Where are you from?
I am from Isiozi Akah.
What about MrKentus Okwudili Nwachukwu?
Mr. Kentus Okwudiri Nwachukwu is from Nwachukwu Duruoshinmiri Royal family, in Isiozi Akah, Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State. His father is late Chief Paulinus Echefu Nwachukwu. His mother is Lolo, Ezinne Letricia Nwachukwu.
When did the Ignatius Echefu Nwachukwu Education Foundation begin?
It started about 5 years ago and it has graduated some students already.
Like how many students are on the payroll of the foundation?
The foundation has about eighty students in the secondary schools and thirty five students in the universities enjoying full scholarship.
Tell us what the scholarship covers.
The scholarship covers secondary and university students from Duruigbo village in Isiozi Akah.
What do the beneficiaries of the scholarship program get annually?
Quite a lot. The Students in the university have their school fees paid fully every year and three hundred thousand Naira given to each student as pocket money for other expenses.
Aside the interest of the foundation in education, are there other areas the foundation offers assistance at?
That is a good question. Every 1st January, Mr. Kentus Okwudiri Nwachukwu carries his poverty alleviation program in Nwachukwu Duruoshinmiri compound; this year like other years; he shared bags of rice to more than 450 people.
That is amazing. Any other thing?
He gave out school bags to all the students of the foundation. Different kinds of shoes were shared among men, women and children. This year 2026,he has already addedN10m to the scholarship foundation fund. He gave the women 5m, 2m to the men, 1m to the youths and 5m to the chiefs. Also, this January he donated 6m to St Joseph’s Catholic Church Isiozi Akah. He is currently building a hall for the St Joseph Catholic Church that will cost between 80m to 100m.
All these are indeed amazing, why is it that nobody knows about him?
(Smiles). You can remember, about 2 years ago, Umuaka Times wanted to do a story on him but he turned it down because he is not someone who goes for publicity. All that I told you is to mention very little of his generosity towards humanity and Isiozi Akah in particular. Honestly he is God’s gift to us.
It seems you still want to tell us more?
Every now and then, he comes to the aid of anyone in need. He regularly sends money to buy bread to be shared in the whole Duruigbo village and environs. Two years ago, he donated a sound proof generator to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Isiozi Akah. Also during the 1st January palliative, 300 gallons of groundnut oil were shared to the people.
Can you tell us why he established the foundation?
He established the foundation in memory of his elder brother, the late Ignatius Echefu Nwachukwu who was a very big successful electronic merchant based in Ibadan. Sadly he was killed by assassins. He is the sole founder and financer of the foundation.
As someone who has such a high level of love for his people, what is your prayer for him?
Our prayer for him is that God will continue to bless and protect him. He has lifted a lot of people from the shackles of poverty.
Thank you very much for your time.
Thank you Umuaka Times.
