Kingsley Obioha takes the acha ere message to Akalites in America.

Renowned Umuaka born academic and high profile medical expert, Professor Obioha Kingsley Chukwu Episteme has in a fit of anger, taken his message to debunk the myths and misconceptions surrounding the “acha ere” infection among the general public especially Nigerians in diaspora. The professor who is medically equipped with (PhD, MB;BS, MPH, PGDE, MPA, M.Ed, MSc, Cert-MAS, DCN, FIIA, FWACS, FMCOG, FICS, FCG, F-IVF/ART, FICPAN, FWACOG disclosed this to Umuaka Times in a press statement he issued in the United States of America during the Umuaka Convention 2025 last week. According to the erudite professor, “acha era” which is called cellulitis in medical term, is a bacterial (Streptococcus or Staphylococcus) infection which is medically treated. High-Chief Obioha disclosed to Umuaka Times that his primary aim of attending the Umuaka Convention 2025 in the United States was to speak to Akalites and direct them on what to do when confronted with the challenge of cellulitis (Acha ere).

Hear him: “Cellulitis (acha ere) is a mere bacterial infection which is treatable with antibiotics. Many people have sold the wrong narrative to most of us in Nigeria and the United States that the infection is passed on via voodoo or juju means. This is a page one fallacy.”

While debunking the claims, the professor continued. “Cellulitis affects both black and white people and the white people treat theirs in the hospitals while our people are misled to believe otherwise.”

In an exclusive interview with Umuaka Times correspondents in America, the popular and youthful professor disclosed that he has treated hundreds of cellulitis cases in the hospital and the people are in good health today till date. On the flip side, the professor expressed deep sentiments and regrets that many Akalites and others including some educated people have lost their lives or faced leg amputation following the wrong notions sold to them by some highly uninformed individuals that cellulitis infection is sent to them via spiritual and demonic authorities.

After making his historic speech at the recently concluded convention, Obioha reminded Akalites at the event to understand that they are the financial benefactors who send home the funds to family and friends for the treatment of acha ere, and further advised them to insist on hospital solution when sending home such funds.

In a broader spectrum, Obioha advised all Akalites and patients of acha ere to always seek medical solutions at various hospitals because it is a bacterial infection and nothing more.

A document Umuaka Times came across last week concerning cellulitis explains that the ailment “is a common bacterial infection affecting the deeper layers of the skin and tissues beneath it, most often caused by Streptococcus or Staphylococcus bacteria entering through a break in the skin. Symptoms include redness, warmth, swelling, tenderness, and pain, may be accompanied by fever, chills, and headache. Treatment typically involves antibiotics, which can be taken orally or intravenously for severe cases, along with elevating the affected limb to reduce swelling.”
