Tuesday December 28, 2021 was a great day Umulolo Ugbele women will not forget in a hurry in years to come. On that eventful day, one of the illustrious sons of the community based in the United States teamed up with his wife and empowered the women under the auspices of his foundation known as Akusinanna and Ahudiya Foundation. Chief  Konye Ahamefule, the Akusinanna 1of Ugbele Akah and Lolo Oby Ahudiya Ahamefule, the couple behind the establishment of the foundation named the body after their chieftaincy names. The aims and objectives of the foundation are but not limited to lending helping hands to the economically down trodden in the community and beyond.

When Umuaka Times arrived at the country home of the chief host(s) simply known as Southern Belt Settlement SBS, Umulolo women had already gathered under two canopies filled to their capacity, singing and praising God. When the program began, Mr Kelechi Ahamefula, the man who acted as the spokesman of the foundation welcomed all the guests who had come from their different homes to honour the invitation. He further explained to them that the role the Akusinanna Foundation has come to be playing in the community is what will benefit all of them as time progresses. He further informed the women that the empowerment program which brought them together for the first time, would be done in form of lottery.” But this is not the convectional lottery you all are used to. In today’s lottery, all of you will smile home with cash gifts,” Kelechi Ahamefule told the Umulolo women.

After the explanations by the spokesman, The women were grouped into five, according to their years of marriage. this was to target the younger ones that were still vibrant in their businesses, for higher prizes. The lottery started at 11:30am, when the women filed out to pick the tickets. They were told to keep their tickets intact and sealed until they were instructed to open it. They all obeyed and when all had picked from the big bucket, they were instructed to go back to their seats.

The spokesman cleared his voice again and said, “Now that you all have collected your tickets and seated properly, you can now open your tickets. Any amount of money written in the ticket is what you have won.”

In less than 2 minutes, many women were seen jumping up with joy when they had seen the amount of money they had won. The amount ranged from N2,000 to the jackpot of N75,000. Those who won big amount of money were given placards with the amount of money they had won boldly written on the placards.

Mrs. Akudo Dike emerged the star price winner with the sum of NGN75,000 followed by NGN50,000 winners. In the category of NGN20,000 were five lucky women, followed by sixteen others that won NGN10,000 each. In NGN5,000 and NGN2,000 were twenty five and thirty four women respectively.

At the end of the program, no participant left empty handed. They were full of joy and praises to God Almighty for His favour in their lives, even as they celebrated their son who had remembered them.

The Umulolo Ugbele Akah women who took part in the lottery empowerment continued to sing, dance and celebrate their son who had remembered them. They asked God to continue to bless him and his family.
