Lambert Madueke Ibe, an aeronautic engineer from Ugbele Akah, has sounded an urgent alarm on the need for an eye clinic in Umuaka. In an interview with Umuaka Times, Ibe expressed concern that many residents are at risk of blindness due to untreated or yet to be dictated eye problems. He urged Akalites to take immediate action to address this issue.

Ibe who made this call in an exclusive interview with Umuaka Times Lagos correspondent seriously emphasized the importance of regular eye checks, particularly for those at 40 and above. He advised individuals to visit an eye clinic at least twice a year to monitor their eye health. “Early detection is key, as many eye problems can be treated if caught early.”

Ibe shared his personal experience with Umuaka Times on his discovery that one of his eyes was more efficient than the other during a check-up.

Umuaka Times findings show that regular eye checks offer numerous benefits, including vision correction. Doctors can prescribe glasses or contact lenses to correct vision problems. Moreover, eye exams can detect underlying health issues, such as diabetes and hypertension. Ibe stressed that many people may not realize they’re going blind until it’s too late, highlighting the need for accessible eye care services in Umuaka.

The need for an eye clinic in Umuaka is pressing; a previous prediction by Mrs Jennifer Iwuji, an eye care volunteer during the free medical outreach of Pastor George Izunwa Foundation some years that over 40% of those screened back would go blind has perhaps come to reality. Optical crisis can create more problems including blindness if untreated within the space of four years. Many residents are now struggling with vision loss due to lack of eye care facilities in Umuaka. On this note, Ibe is calling on Umuaka born philanthropists to partner with eye care specialists to establish clinics in Umuaka. With accessible eye care, residents can take proactive steps to protect their vision and overall health. It’s time for action to prevent further vision loss in the community.
