Lassa Fever returns. 50 already dead.
1 min readAs the country is seriously battling insecurity, Covid19, hunger and total economic crisis, Umuaka Times according to the fillers it got last week, can authoritatively reveal that Lassa Fever has bounced back across the country and it is fast spreading. As at the time of filing this report, at least 50 persons have been confirmed dead across the country as a result of the return of the ailment.
Umuaka Times obtained this figure from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control. In the data released by NCDC, 28 persons have so far died between Week 7 (February 15-21) and Week 15. The number of confirmed cases also rose from 102 to 247 within the same period. The data also warns Nigerians that the disease is now prevalent in 14 states and 52 local governments.
Our source states that states like Ondo and Edo remain the leading states in the Lassa fever chart. Ondo has lost 19 persons so far to the disease, with a total of 69 confirmed cases of the disease.
