Leo Offorji set to accord mum a befitting burial.
2 min readFrom the fillers Umuaka Times gathered a couple of days ago, the Isiozi born UK based attorney, Barrister Leo Offorji has concluded plans to accord his mother who died a couple of weeks ago a befitting burial. This was confirmed by an Umuaka Times correspondent who has been following the trends arising from the planning and arrangements for the burial of the woman who was 89 years old. Following the brief visit of Umuaka Times to the palatial home of Barrister Offorji in Isiozi Umuaka, both the family house and the satellite residence of the Offorjis are now wearing a new look.
The youths of the community and other organizations in conjunction with the burial committee, have been working round the clock to ensure a hitch-free burial for Mrs Geraldine Offorji.
On the issue of security of lives and properties, several security experts and organizations have been contacted by the committee on how to provide adequate security during the burial ceremony. Umuaka Times also learnt that some family members, relations and friends of the Offorjis who live overseas and in Nigeria as well, have indicated their interests to be part of the event.
The rites of passage for Mrs Geraldine Offorji have been packaged to begin thus: On Wednesday26 May 2021, there will be the first requiem Mass in Umunwankwo community by 5pm while wake-keep activities start by 8 pm in the family compound of the Offorjis.
Thursday 27 May 2021,by 7am, body leaves Chetakwe Mortuary Orji Owerri for Umuaka, Njaba LGA. This will be followed by a funeral Mass by 10am at St Joseph’s Catholic Church Isiozi Umuaka Autonomous Community. Internment comes up by 1 pm at the family compound of the Offorjis in Isiozi Umuaka while reception follows immediately at Riverside Primary School Isiozi Umuaka.
Lolo Mrs Geraldine Onyewuchibeya Offorji was aged 89 years and she is survived by her children and grandchildren.
