Re: Imo State Charter of Equity: A charter of dishonesty or charter of confusion?; Governorship Contests in Imo State; The truth, the facts, the history and the equity for the masses…..by T.J.Ehirim(Ph.D).
Fellow Imo Citizens,
We do not know how old some debaters of this issue of Quota System in the Governorship of Imo State are, however, we are mindful and encouraged that we are not lacking honest elders in great numbers in Imo State. The Igbo says, “ònye na anòghi nga anòrò lie ozu, asi ya bòwa ozu, odighi ara ahù ya ebido n’ukwu”; the Igbo also says, “Okenye n’egosi nwata anù agwò, ya gbaa mbò gosi ya n’eziokwu ebe ishi agwò ahù nò”
Umunna si, òsò ebe, ya sòròkwa nduwe”.
First of all, for those who taunt Charter of this and that, discerning minds are sensibly asking, which Governor made your so called proclamation of your so called Charter-of-Equity? Governor.Hope Uzodinma?
Is it not very interesting? Is it not an ill-fated building on a shaky foundation upon sands?
If Gov.Hope Uzodinma loved your so called Owerri Zone too much as to make them charter of equity today, and believed in your so called Charter of Equity honestly, why did he even contest or worse still ‘snatch’ the Governorship from your so called Owerri Zone in the person of Gov. Emeka Ihedioha when in truth his so called Orlu Zone compatriot in the person of Gov. Rochas Okorocha just finished 2 tenures of 8 years?
My brother and sisters, “ònye aghògburu ka agbara” meaning, s/he who has been succesfully tricked is s/he who has been successfully defeated.
Let us go back and check our records and ourselves properly otherwise, he who doesn’t ga eshi n’ùkwù bòwa ozu a.
More so, one writer above innocently claimed that your so called Owerri Zone man had never governed Imo State before? Is that true? Of course Not!
It means Gov.Evans Enwerem of Atta-Ikeduru must have come from your so called Orlu zone or your so called Okigwe zone.
My brother, this zone and Quota System speak or preach is an absolute gimmick of the past which has succesfully destroyed our country and states whilst our majority were blind and asleep which will never ever fly here again.
To draw you home, crying zone -this, zone-that does not give power in Imo State,haa nevw3 given power in Imo State, not even in some parties which enshrined it in their constitution, neither has it really given de facto power in Nigeria. This is a fact and the truth.
What gives power is the general acceptability and personae and capacity of a particular candidate.
Otherwise, that nonsense gimmick has never really worked in Imo State and will never work.
The last Labour Party Guber Primaries in Imo State is a clear pointer.
If which zone one comes from gives power, why would a Rt.Hon.Emeka Ihedioha be preferred by the Imo majority of Imo people in 2019, enabling him win other candidates including an Uche Nwosu who was almost an incumbent Governor and from your so called most populated Orlu Zone?
My brothers and sisters, power is never given, it is taken. Go and ask around the world.
To make it clearer to you, Sen. Hope Uzodinma did not get power from Rt.Hon.Emeka Ihedioha because he is from your so called Orlu Zone, rather he took power from Emeka Ihedioha because he personally worked for it, according to him in his Ben Johnson way.
More so, in Nigeria, de facto power is not given by any Quota System or any zoning.
That concept Quota, zoning, Charter of whatever had been a gimmick the power brokers and blocks use to deceive, derail and take power from other most competent and most deserving.
Otherwise, tell me which zoning arrangement gave Gen.Buhari power in less than 7 years after his Katsina State, full Fulani (North West) homeboy, Pres.Umaru Yar’Adua tasted it, even when nobody from the entire South East had neared that level of power for over 50 years?
Furthermore, if power is Quota(ed) or had been Zoned or is being Chartered or ‘Equitied’ with which equity, zoning formulae or Quota would a Bola Tinubu become a President in a country Olu Obasanjo his SouthWest brother just left in 2007 whereas no South Easterner have been President for over 50 years?
Truth be told, if this Quota System, Zoning or Rotation as you call it is true in Nigeria, Mr. Peter Obi or any of his co-Aspirants from the South East would have been given the Presidential Flag-Bearer of the PDP, a party which inserted this gimmick in its own constitution. But was Mr. Peter Obi given that PDP ticket by virtu of the Rotation Gimmick or pushed out?
That Rotation gimmick is now dead and stale.
The reigning Quota System now is the Quota for the most dehumanized and cheated masses of Nigeria vis a vis masses of Imo State which is to get the BEST PERDONS to Government and not all these celebrity criminals and Lagos-Festac- Otokoto returnees trying to continually pull the wool over the eyes of Imo State people to install their cronies, apprentices and ill-raised offsprings and offsprings of the partners in the name of the so called ‘Charter-Of-Dishonesty’.
Truth be told, majority of the emancipated Imo people do not believe in or care about the so called Quota System of mediocrity because it is alien and embodies the greatest dishonesty at its best, as it is at the root of what destroyed Nigeria which people from various parts of the country used to stop the bests, stopped the Igboman and other enterprising and excellence-driving Nigerians after the war, to impose misfits, mediocre, undeserving cronies, and crooks for their narrow self-serving purposes which ultimately brought Nigeria to the sorry state we are today.
If we find an Owerri man/woman who is the best, we must support and vote him/ her; If an Okigwe person turns out to be the best, we support and vote him/her, and if it turns out that an Orlu man/woman is the best to Govern Imo State, we vote and support him or her.
Compatriots, after this stage of new ‘awokeness’, it will be easier for a Carmel to pass the eye of a needle than that busted gimmick of confusion called Charter-of-Equity to fly.
To be Godly honest, the only clan which is one of the largest unitary clans of Igbo land inside Imo State which since the history of humankind has never been appointed, selected, delegated nor elected into the position of Governor or Chief Executive or Administrator or MILAD of a State, Region or Province neither under the Colonial Rule, Pre- & Post- independent Nigeria Self Rule, neither in all the Military Regimes nor Civilian Administrations in Nigeria is the ISU CLAN. No Isu Man or Woman has been so delegated, appointed or elected even in his/her home state or elsewhere as it variously happened under the Military, yet, nobody is talking about that and almost every Imo State person is pretending as if they don’t know this open day truth. Shouldn’t people who don’t know ask their fathers, mothers and grandfather’s or engage in real research to find out who are these so called ISU PEOPLE, where do they live, and how large or small are they in relation to the entire of Imo State, yet they had never had a shot at the Governorship before such people start engaging in talks and adoption of any Charter-of-Dishonesty for 2nd timers. _”Nga ana anò eshi agùgò mgba, ala nò ya”?
Yet, we do not mind and we also are not interested in talking about that because in this era of Modern ‘Awokeness’, all of us having sufferred so much in th old failed order of the useless Quota System, we strongly believe and move towards always letting the bests of us lead the rest of us in this era of 4th Industrial Revolution to be able to afford the best possible dividends ever to our people through top performance in good governance.
In finding the best for our people in this our generation, WE MUST ADOPT THE SUPER EAGLE’S BONFRERE JO’S DOCTRINE OF LETTING THE BESTS PLAY FOR THE NATION EVEN IF THEY ARE FROM THE SAME WOMB; AND THAT WAS THE 1ST TIME NIGERIA GOT THE TOP WINNERS RESULT IN A SOCCER COMPETITION OF THE WHOLE WORLD.
For instance, we can no more allow a person or persons who has not genuinely passed School Cert to rule Imo State, or impose persons who ordinarily not cut out for public service and leadership simply because of which part of Imo State he was accidentally born from, even if he likes let him be the biological son of a sitting President.
This time, Genuine Emancipation and Economic Freedom long denied our parents which are much more important than the so taunted Quota System Must Come in this Our Own Generation! Period!!
