The very important burial program of a very important Amaiyi Akah born personality, the late Chief Nnaoma Di Ebube Obimezie Egeolu has been released to the public by the famous Egeolu family and the members of the burial committee of the late sage.
According to a press statement released by the burial organizing committee of the Amiyi Akah born nonagenarian, Chief Egeolu will be buried on Thursday June 25 2025 in his compound and ancestral home in Umudurunnaji in Odoeshiwe village Amiyi Akah Autonomous Community Njaba LGA.
From the details of a press statement issued by the family which was made available to Umuaka Times local affairs correspondents, the rites of passage of the late Chief Obimezie Egeolu who was known by friends and well-wishers as Ugobueze 1 Worldwide will begin on Wednesday June 25 with a Christian wakes night and service of songs in the Egeolu compound of Umudurunnaji in Odoeshiwe village Amiyi Akah.
The remains of the late Obimezie Egeolu will on the following day being Thursday June 26 leave the mortuary of Aladimma Hospital Owerri in a motorcade to his Amaiyi Akah community. This exercise takes place by 7:30 am. There will be a brief stopover at the palace of the Iyi 1 of Amiyi Akah, HRH Eze Francis Ahanotu where the royal father and the members of Amiyi Akah Council of Chiefs will pay their last respect to the departed.
Lying in state of the deceased commences by 9am. This will afford a golden opportunity to family members, colleagues, friends and well-wishers to pay their last respect to the late Nnaoma Di Ebube.
By 10 am, a requiem Mass will be held for the repose of the soul of the late Ugobueze 1 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Amiyi Akah. Interment will immediately follow at the compound of the deceased by 12 midday. Umuaka Times local affairs correspondents gathered that a thanksgiving Mass will be celebrated in his honour on Sunday 29 June 2025 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church Amiyi Akah.
Meanwhile a lot of side attractions such as women’s dance groups, youth acrobatic displays and many other cultural dances including the famous oghu dance will be on display to entertain guests who are expected from many parts of the world to pay their tributes during the burial. Umuaka Times gathered that the burial committee which is headed by Dr Austin Agbahiwe has almost completed its assignment with regards to the high profile burial.
The late Chief Nnaoma Di Ebube Obimezie Egeolu died at the age of 95 years. Left to bourn him are his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an unshakable member of Roman Catholic Church until his death. His death according to some family sources has created a big vacuum that will take ages to replace.
