“Make Umuaka the Nnewi of Imo State.” Monsignor SC Eboh.
2 min readA former Parish Priest of St Mary’s Catholic Church Umuaka, Monsignor Simeon C. Eboh has appealed to Umuaka indigenes both home and abroad to develop Umuaka town to the status of the new “Nnewi of Imo State.”
Monsignor SC Eboh who is also a Professor of Cannon Law, made this appeal in Umuaka during an interview he had with Umuaka Times recently.
Monsignor Eboh who came to Umuaka on October 20, 1984 and left on October 1, 1990 was in Umuaka for the requiem Mass, for the repose of the soul of Dame Cathy Odueze who was buried on January 12, 2022.
According to the man of God, he observed a lot of positive changes in Umuaka especially structural changes and presence of some new schools. He confirmed to Umuaka Times that he was very happy over the new developments in the community and further urged Akalites to develop the community to the status of Nnewi, the auto commercial hob of South East Nigeria. In his own words,” Umuaka is blessed because of its position, flat land and human resources. There is nothing lacking in the community. The only thing that is needed now is to transform the community to the Nnewi of Imo State.”
On the negative side, Prof Eboh outrightly condemned what he described as a gross indiscipline in Isiozi, where he alleged that some members of the community were confrontational to the then bishop of Orlu Diocese over an issue that could have been amicably resolved. He appealed to the Umuaka people to always set good examples for others to follow in handling sensitive issues in the society.
