Mr Maxwell Ibekwe, a young up and coming author from Ugbele Umuaka Autonomous Community will soon have a deep cause to smile and celebrate the benefits of his intellectual property. The State Ministry of Education, Imo State has approved his Igbo textbook titled, Odimma Asusu na Omenala Igbo Maka Junio Sekondiri 1for use in all juniour secondary schools in the state.

When Ibekwe met with an Umuaka Times correspondent last week, he expressed deep joy over the approval and promised that he would continue to promote Igbo language in the whole of South East Nigeria. According to him, the approval given on the book stipulates that the book will be used  by all junior students in Imo State from the year 2021 to the year 2023. There is a possibility that at the end of 2023 academic year, the approval may be renewed.

Ibekwe who told Umuaka Times that Igbo language is now a compulsory subject in the whole of South East, appealed for sponsors via Umuaka Times. “This is  a big project that requires serious funding. I need a financier for the project who will sign an Memorandum of Understanding with me on the mass production of the textbook. Over 400,000 copies of the book will be produced.”

Already Umuaka Times is looking for financiers for this project for Mr Ibekwe.
