Merit: A message from the Provost, HOD.
2 min readWelcome to Merit College of Nursing Sciences Orlu, Imo State. Thank you for your interest in pursuing your Nursing and Midwifery education in our Institution. As healthcare Leaders, Educators, and Patient Advocates, we understand that adequate Nursing and Midwifery training and education are imperative in ensuring students’ success and patients’ safety. Some of the poor healthcare outcomes reported globally are attributed to a lack of or inadequate training. Our goal is to eliminate preventable healthcare outcomes using a scientific approach.
We aim to produce exceptional Nurses who are highly skilled and capable of functioning in any environment and keep up with the rapidly changing and complex healthcare industry. We know that the Nursing profession is an extraordinary discipline that focuses on caring for the whole person, which is why we adopted Jean Watson’s Caritas theory and Imogene King’s theory of goal attainment as our theoretical framework. Our programs are offered in small class sizes with academic staff who are easily accessible to the students for ongoing mentorship and guidance.
Our curricula are developed using evidence-based practices to meet the high demands of healthcare while offering the students the opportunity to care for themselves. Located in Umuowa along Orlu-Owerri Road, Imo State, Nigeria, in a serene environment, Merit College offers a dynamic learning atmosphere away from the noise of the main town. We have equipped our infrastructures with modern amenities, including sophisticated mannequins for simulation and a gym for workouts for our students learning and comfort.
We are committed to your success and look forward to collaborating with you on this very fundamental journey.
Best regards.
Mrs. Angela Ikeme, Provost and Dr. Nneka Chukwu, HOD School of Nursing and Midwifery.
