Miss Duruigbo: Great Akalites pay tributes.
3 min readTributes from Akalites have started to pour in from several parts of the world since the Duruigbo family officially announced the demise of the famous teacher, Lady Josephine Nwaulari Duruigbo, a.k.a. Miss Duruigbo. As at press time last week, several Akalites have sent in their condolence messages and prayed God to accept the sole of the departed. Because Miss Duruigbo was indeed a “shero” (the Umuaka Times preferred word for a female hero), the newspaper carried out the news as breaking news last week and since that time, many people have been reacting and speaking good of the amiable woman who served humanity.
Below is a selection of some of the condolence messages many have sent to the Duruigbo family.
May the Soul of Miss Josephine Duruigbo rest perfectly in the Bosom of the Lord Amen. Her education and ife touched everybody that went across her together with her Christian Life.

She was really a dedicated and pioneer educator who positively touched many lives in Umuaka and beyond (including mine) as an extraordinary teacher and Christian mother! She was one of my first and favourite teachers on my first day in primary school at St Peters (now Hilltop) Primary School Uba Umuaka in those days. I still recite some of the songs she used to sing for us till this day!!
We will surely miss her!!!
May her gentle soul Rest in Peace Amen.
Dr Albert Okunwa.
I thank God for the life of our MISS. She was our teacher. She personified the role of education in a rural community. If you don’t know the benefit of education in a rural community study the life and achievements of Miss Josephine Duruigbo. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
Sir Eddy Anokwute.
She was equally my primary school teacher at St Mary’s catholic primary school.
I pray very fervently for Duruigbo family to garner greater fortitude to bear this humongous loss in IJMN Amen.

May the soul of Miss Duruigbo rest in peace Amen.
Hon. Lewis Duru.
I was divinely led to visit Dee Miss last year with Comr Emeka Onyejiekwe. When we got to the house I requested to see and the woman who welcomed us said she had to notify her that I was looking for her. I told her to go ahead and she did and we were ushered in. We talked about sundry issues and see she remembered everything. Her metallic voice glowed quite audibly and she flowed. I thank God for the opportunity of that visit.
She was everything to my generation; teacher, adviser, disciplinarian, role model, etc. We will miss her wise counsel and mentorship.
We pray God to grant her eternal rest and comfort the large family she left behind. Adieu Miss Josephine Nwaulari Duruigbo and safe trip to God’s kingdom.
Dr Obinna Duruji.
