More Akalites receive awards from Umuaka Times.

More Akalites who donated food items for their communities during the Covid19 lockdown have received their Covid19 Charity Award from Umuaka Times. First was Chief Dennis Ezeigbo who was represented by the entire Umuawaha women, youths and titled chiefs who gathered in his compound last week to receive the award.

The women who sang and danced during the ceremony told Umuaka Times that Chief Ezeigbo who was in far away United States during the presentation, is a good husband of theirs they can never joke with due to his charity works to the entire Umuawaha people. They prayed for him and asked God to grant him all his heart desires. Chief Chima Ohanaekwu, Chief Vitalis Nwanyanwu and top Nollywood actor, Mr Ohams were all present during the event.

Another awardee who got his award last week was Onyekachi Durugbor, the 21 year old international footballer from Amiyi village. His award came in a totally different category which is Sports Personality of the Year Award 2020.

When Umuaka Times reached the family compound of the Durugbos last week, some family members and footballers had all gathered to wait for the event. Mr Declan Durugbor, the father of the kid sensation in his speech thanked Umuaka Times for the honour.

Mr Ephraim Durugbor and Lolo Grace Durugbor respectively appealed to the other footballers present at the event to work hard and be prayerful as well.

The person who was last to receive his award late last week was Chief and Mrs Chris Nwachukwu. Chief Chris Nwachukwu also known as Chriwowo who could not make it to Nigeria this period, had a big celebration in his honour when Umuaka Times called for the presentation.

The entire Umunwada kindred came out in their large numbers to grace the occasion. During the event, Engineer George Amatobi, Chairman Eddy Anokwute, Hon Emma Izunwa, Hon Chief Maxwell Ezike were all present and each of them spoke well about the blessing called Chris Nwachukwu. Hon Izunwa during his speech said that he wondered why Umuaka Times was giving awards to others who donated food items during the Covid19 lockdown but sidelined Chris Nwachukwu who was the first to start the project in Uba. At this juncture, he was told that Umuaka Times was planning to hand over the award to Chief Nwachukwu hand to hand but when the newspaper discovered that Nwachukwu was not going to visit Nigeria, new arrangements were made to have family members receive on his behalf.

At the end of the event, everybody present prayed for Chief Chris Nwachukwu and asked God to continue to bless and protect him and his family.
