Mrs Philomena Nwaeruru Obi dies at 107.

The family of Amazihu Obi of Umulolo Umuezeala Uba Umuaka has announced the death of the matriarch of the family, the late Mrs Philomena Nwaeruru Obi (nee Nwafor Okwaraojiaku). The sad event occurred on the 18th day of February 2025 after a brief illness. Umuaka Times local affairs correspondents who visited the family house shortly after the demise of the centenarian woman was made public, gathered that the late Mrs Philomena Nwaeruru Obi until her death was a devoted Christian mother of Roman Catholic Faith.
From the press statement issued by Mazi Obinna Obi, the chief mourner and the admin of Akah Political Circle and a stakeholder in Umuaka community’s socio-political affairs, he disclosed that his stepmother was blessed with caring children, stepchildren, grand and great grandchildren who really took care of her during her lifetime.
“She was undoubtedly blessed with longevity and was amongst the oldest persons in Umuezeala Uba Umuaka and the entire Umuaka.”
Mazi Obinna Obi in his press statement which was written and signed by him wrote, “It is with heavy hearts but in total submission to the will of God that the Amazihu Obi family of Umulolo, Umuezeala, Uba Umuaka announces the death of her beloved wife, mother and stepmother, late Mrs Philomena Nwaeruru Obi (Nee Nwafor Okwaraojiaku), who passed away on the 18th day of February 2025). She will be missed more than words can express.”
For now, no date has been fixed for the burial of the amazing woman, according to the family sources who spoke with Umuaka Times last week.
