Mystery river reappears after 300 years in Mbano community.
1 min readA mystery river in Ekwedim Autonomous Community of Amuzari Ancient Kingdom of Isiala Mbano, Imo State Nigeria which disappeared over 300 years ago has reportedly resurfaced and reoccupied its position. The indigenes of the community who woke up early last month have confirmed the historic return of the river.
Several social media users who got the hint of the mysterious river known as Iyi Ekeoga have wondered if there is any scientific reason for the resurfacing of the river.
An Mbano woman who goes by the name Eunice Ugonwa took to her Facebook account to announce the return of the river early last month. From the time the news was made public, many people have been visiting the site of the river to witness the mystery. According to her, the history of the river was passed to them from one generation to another and the last time the river disappeared was around 17th century. According to Eunice Ugonwa, “My husband heard the story of this stream from his grandfather who never saw it but heard it from his own grandfather.”
For now, many people are still wondering if the return of the river is a sign of a good luck to the people or a bad omen. Only time will tell.
