Nigerian secondary schools adopt Nnaemeka Akanazu’s poems.
2 min readGood luck and unlimited fortune are about to come the way of Amiyi Akah born international development expert and world class poet Mr Nnaemeka Akanazu. The information Umuaka Times gathered last week from the German based author and insurance guru showed that Soul and Spirit, a collection of poems he wrote earlier this year, has gradually gained approval and prominence across several secondary schools in Nigeria.
The report shows that many secondary schools now use some of the poems from the book during their morning devotions and class competitions too.
Some video clips Umuaka Times received from Akanazu last week showed a compilation of secondary school students reciting some of the poems during their assemblies. Some of the schools captured in the video clip include True Vine International Academy, St Brigid’s Girls’ Grammar School Asaba, and Bethel Seminary School Nekede Imo State.
An Akalite who did not want his name mentioned, while speaking with the German correspondents of Umuaka Times a few days back, extolled the virtues, courage and the wisdom Akanazu portrayed in Soul and Spirit. According to him, “Soul and Spirit has been and is still being enjoyed by students of secondary schools, university students, lecturers, teachers, professors, parents etc and as long as you come across the book you will have a good report to it.”
Umuaka Times also gathered that there are several women groups, young men and more who use the book for monthly competitions as well as weekly recitations in their establishments.
Nnaemeka Akanazu disclosed to Umuaka Times that by December 2024, the book will be officially unveiled in Imo State where the State Ministry of Education is expected to play a prominent role.
The Akalite concludes that Soul and Spirit has boosted the reading culture among students across the country.
