Nwaiwu Family set to bury Oppose in a Blaze of Glory.
2 min readFor some time now, the Nwaiwu family has been working round the clock in packaging a befitting burial for the late Chief Ignatius Nnaoma Nwaiwu Duruohaneho, the Akudinanwa 1 of Umuaka. Chief Nwaiwu who was known as Oppose during his life time was a well known businessman who made name and fortune through transport and haulage. From what Umuaka Times gathered, his burial which had already been fixed on January 5, 2021 has been properly fine tuned by the burial committee.
When Umuaka Times paid a condolence visit to the Nwaiwu family last week, Chief Bernard Nwaiwu, one of the children of the deceased disclosed that a lot of activities has been lined up by the family in order to give a befitting burial to the man whom many have confirmed lived a fulfilled life. Top among the activities especially on the entertainment side are, Oghu dance, Ohafia War Dance, ekeleke dance and many women dance groups from Umuaka Ebe Iri. Also billed to perform is Akira Moses Band which and some other entertainers too.
Members of People’s Club of Nigeria, Christian and community based organizations both in and outside Umuaka are expected at the burial ceremony. Umuaka Times also gathered that the youths of Umuezikoha have made adequate security arrangements to ensure the success of the great burial.
A couple of weeks ago, the famous Nwaiwu family in Uba Umuaka Njaba LGA Imo State was thrown into deep mourning following the death of the patriarch of the family Chief Ignatius Nwaiwu who was known by many as Oppose Them O Lord. Oppose died shortly after his return from the United States of America where he had always gone on holidays to unite with his children and grandchildren. Oppose has been described as “Husband, Father, Grand Father, Great Grand Father, Brother, Uncle and Father in-law,” the deceased lived a fulfilled life and died at 91years of age. The statement reads, ” At 91 years of age, Oppose ran a good race and positively impacted many lives.”
Umuaka Times confirmed that Oppose quietly passed on to glory on “Saturday, October 16, 2021, surrounded by his family at his family compound in Umuezikeoha, Uba, Umuaka, Njaba LGA, Imo State,” via natural causes.
The arrangement goes as follows. Tuesday January 4, 2022, there will be a wake keep in his residence at Okwaraononihu Nwaiwu Duruohaneho family compound in Umuezikoha Uba Umuaka. Wednesday January 5, 2022, his remains will leave Aladimma Mortuary Owerri for his family compound in Uba Umuaka. Take off time from the mortuary is 6 am and there will be a brief stopover at the Palace of HRH, Eze Henry Ojinnaka. By 7:30 am, his body will lie in state for people to pay their last respect. By 8:30, his body leaves for St Mary’s Catholic Church in a motorcade for his requiem Mass. The Mass starts by 9 and ends before mid day.
His body will then be taken back to his family house for interment.
