A highly honourable and distinguished Amiyi Akah community based women’s group known as Nzuko Ndi Lolo Amiyi Akah Autonomous Community last week embarked on a mission to facilitate primary and secondary school education in Amiyi Akah and beyond. On January 6th 2026 precisely, the organization led by the First Lady of Amiyi Akah, Ugoeze Vera Ahanotu donated customized writing materials, such as exercise books of various leaves, biros, pencils, sharpeners, erasers and more to all the pupils of Town School Amiyi and St Savious’ Secondary School Amiyi Akah. The event which was held at the premises of Town School Amiyi attracted the presence of the royal father of the community HRH Eze Francis Ahanotu and his counterpart, HRH Eze Ken Uzoho of Acharaji Akah Autonomous Community.

The chairman of Njaba LGA Hon. Vitalis Obi who could not make it to the event was represented by his deputy Hon. Mrs Rhoda Ukan who was accompanied to the event by her fellow women colleagues in the persons of Lolo Ijeoma Onyeji, vice chairman of Mbaitoli LGA, Hon Maurine Nwosu, vice chairman Ehime Mbano LGA and Hon Elizabeth Jude, vice chairman of Ohaji Egbema LGA.

In her opening speech, Ugoeze Vera Ahanotu thanked all the royal fathers who attended the event and the entire guests who came from far and wide to grace the function. She emphasized on the need for communities across Igboland especially in Umuaka to embark on programs to salvage education. “If other communities in Umuaka will do this to our children, parents will feel relieved of a heavy financial burden,” she said.
His Royal Highness, Eze Francis Ahanotu who was the royal father of the day during the event also commended the organization for embarking on such a profitable mission and advised the pupils and students to take their education seriously. The Amiyi monarch seriously expressed his dissatisfaction that the pupils and students of Town School Amiyi and St. Saviour’s Secondary school who were conspicuously present during the event were not accompanied to the event by their school authorities. Umuaka Times gathered that the school authorities were supposed to receive the writing materials on behalf of the pupils and students of both schools respectively but they did not show up. The Iyi therefore directed that the writing materials be given to the children directly.

While delivering his speech, the Acharaji Akah royal father HRH Eze Ken Uzoho who arrived at the event with his Ugoeze, disclosed to the gathering the existing bond between him and the royal father of Amiyi Akah. He donated N200, 000 to the group and urged them to continue supporting education in the community. Other guests who attended the event also made donations in supporting the educational program of the group.
