O My Dearly Beloved Mum. By Emeka Odueze.

2 min read

Writing a tribute to my dearest Mom is one arduous task to fulfill. It’s so difficult fighting back tears and emotional questions. Words fail me. The truth remains that, I have not come to terms with the fact that the lovely woman who bore and nurtured me from cradle alongside my siblings is no more. Who will call me “Nwanagankpa” again as you fondly called me…. Saying I miss you is an understatement. You were such a peaceful and powerful influence to us and will continue to be. An iroko and a force to reckon with.

Mama though you have answered the call of nature, you lived a life that your children, grandchildren and everyone that knows you will always remember. You thought me to be kind, humble and generous to all, and at the same time made so much positive impact in the lives of those around you.

Mama you were indeed a mother like no other. A special gift from God with so much charisma, grace, wisdom and love. You looked beyond your immediate family and extended your warm disposition to all and sundry, always eager to offer a helping hand. You were a leader per excellence that’s why you were able to hold many sensitive leadership positions and performed wonderfully well in all of them.

My lovely mother, Nneoma Nwere Ugo, Nneuwanile, my first teacher and my mentor, pages cannot contain our journey in life and your impacts in my life. You were so fond of me until death, and I could not have asked for a better mother than you…. in my second coming you shall still be my mother…

Nnem oma, I would’ve done anything to keep you alive but God knows the best, the void you left in our family will never be filled. You will be greatly remembered as one of the finest gifts to humanity…. the Odueze family will miss you. Nwakaibeya will greatly miss you, Nwanagankpa will forever miss you. I promise to honor you and keep your legacy alive as long as I live.

Rest Peacefully Dame Catherine Odueze. Jee Nke Oma NNE ORA,

Goodnight GREAT AMAZON…..

Your Son

Chief Dr. Emeka Frank Odueze
