Obinwanne, Acharaji, disassociate selves from Achara jungle justice.

A press statement issued by the President-General of Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community Engineer Modestus Obioha, has exonerated and declared that his community, Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community did not have a hand either directly or indirectly in the jungle justice witnessed in Umuaka town last week where two youths were set ablaze by an angry mob. The press release further stated that the allegation by some people suggesting that the illegal action was carried out by the Obinwanne community as a form of retaliation to the murder of Mr Obinna Amajioyi also known as Airtel by armed robbers holds no merit.

It can be recalled that on Friday August 8 2025, Mr Obinna Amajioyi (Airtel) was accosted by armed robbers along Umuaka Amaigbo Road, precisely in Ekwe community in Isu LGA, where he was shot dead at gun point by the armed robbers while trying to snatch his motorcycle from him. From Umuaka Times investigations, the tragic and painful manner Airtel was killed by the armed robbers seriously resulted to widespread condemnation and lamentation across Umuaka Municipal Council.

There were speculations in town last week that alleged that the Obinwanne Autonomous Community may have been instrumental to the jungle justice melted against two youths suspected to be those behind the senseless killing of Airtel.

In the press statement issued by the Obinwanne Autonomous Community, Engineer Obioha started thus: “Good morning my people of Aka Ebe Iri. I am Chief Engr. Modestus Obioha, the President-General of Obinwanne Umuaka Autonomous Community. A disturbing report has come to my attention regarding the alleged public killing of someone connected with the recent motorcycle jacking and murder of one of our sons, Obinna Amajuoyi which occurred last week in Isu LGA.”

The PG who clearly described his community as a peace loving town and further disassociated the community from the dastardly act. “From my investigations and preliminary reports this alleged public killing was not a retaliation of Obinwannne people as we do not yet know who murdered our son Obinna.”

The president-general disclosed in the same press statement that the mob action which took place last week occurred along Orlu Owerri Road Express Road. He further stated that the identities of those who carried out the mob action have not been linked to any indigene of Obinwanne.

The PG further disclosed that the murder of the late Obinna Amajioyi remains painful to the them, the community as a law abiding people, is not interested to breach public by any form. “As much as the brutal murder of Obinna resonates and evokes deep emotions among our people, Obinwanne community is a law abiding and peace loving community.”

Umuaka Times gathered that some tenants who the President-General described as “unscrupulous elements” in Obinwanne community who were said to have no identifiable means of livelihood were fished out by the security architecture of the community and handed over to the police for interrogation and onward transportation to their towns.

In a similar development, another press statement which came out from the Eze in Council of Acharaji Akah Town Union and the entire people of Acharaji Akah Autonomous Community also went ahead to debunk the news that the community had hands in the killings that took place last week in the community through a mob action. The Acharaji Akah Autonomous Community outrightly condemned in strongest terms by disassociating itself from the tragic incidents.

The letter observes: “We write to clear the air that we are innocent of whatever is said connecting Acharaji Akah sons and daughters concerning the killings since yesterday (13th August, 2025) evening and Today, 14th August 2025) morning. The people involved are not members of our dear humble community.”

The press statement also disclosed that the Acharaji Akah Autonomous Community had reported the tragic incident to the “law enforcement agents to have the law take its full course appropriately.”

The press statement was not signed by any individual but the name of the community Acharaji Akah Autonomous Community.
