The heavy presence of masquerades during the event was a clear testimony that the people of Amakor are really promoters of culture.
By the time Umuaka Times arrived at the venue of the event, only a handful of children was present and in no distance time, the members of the Amakor Age Grade stormed the arena in a cultural procession. After their arrival, they went through the ogbo oghu and exchanged greetings with the elderly and the young and took off immediately to usher in the umu okorosha who have been selected to dance in the historic oghu event.
The biggest attraction and expectation during the event was the arrival of Unu’s son. Unu is the masquerade which appears during the yearly festival. According to Unu’s first son, he came to deliver the message from his father to the entire Amakoor people and Umuaka in general. Unu thanked the people for their resilience and positive achievements in today’s world.
