One Death Too Many. By Chief Barr Emma Duruigbo Chinaemeze
2 min readTo some, you were their teacher, to some others, you were their moral instructor, and yet to another group, you were a role model, but to us your children, you were a brand name, a go getter, an achiever per excellence and many more.
Though you are no more here with us but I can assure you that your legacies still live on. Our memories of you and what you stood for will last forever, you taught me morals, perseverance, honesty and truthfulness. Your Christian life is one worthy of emulation, your love for education is so addictive, the evidence is clear in your products.
My last physical encounter with you in September 2020 during my short visit to the village was very remarkable. At the announcement of my arrival, you started dancing, you danced aimlessly like a child who just received Christmas wrist watch and eye glass (usually in red and yellow colours) it was difficult for you to let go of me, you said so many things at the same time, but in my young mind I did not comprehend that you were sending some signals. You slept quietly without troubles. Indeed, yours is a glorious exist.
The news of your death came to me with a rude shock shortly after I returned to my base, and since then, to be frank and sincere (as you would always say) I am still reminiscing on mastery of life and death, but I am consoled and comfortable in the fact that you came, you saw and you massively conquered, above all, you fulfilled scriptures: Eccl 3.
I have travelled thousand miles down my memory lane, I have x-rayed the activities around you, I have no doubt but to conclude that you were a very strong woman and influential too, whose name was able to make a disobedient child retract his or her bad steps. In today’s stage, you are equal to any female world leader around the globe.
Today, I write this tribute not in tears, rage, agony, hopelessness or regrets because I know you lived a good life and I do believe in eternal bliss for the righteous, but I write to express that my heart is filled with sweet memories and firm thought that you are already with the Angels in paradise. Adieu Ezi Ada Okwaraojiaku till we meet to part no more.
