The PAMVOC Volunteers Initiative, a group that describes itself as an ambitious and patriotic project has launched a program in conjunction with her project coordinator,

Mr Chukwuezi Ozioma Pat, to donate 250 trees to G-87 Old Boys’ Association High School Umuaka to distribute to all the 10 public primary schools in Umuaka. Mr Chukwuezi Ozioma Pat who is the CEO of PAMVOC, a horticultural firm based in Umuaka  disclosed to Umuaka Times that the purpose of the donation of the trees is to “encourage afforestation, combat and help mitigate desertification, flood, erosion and global warming through tree and grass planting exercise in our environments.”

While speaking with the CEO of PAMVOC horticultural firm, he told Umuaka Times that “PAMVOC Volunteers Initiative is a dynamic team of professionals and non-professionals committed to environmental cleanliness, beauty, healthy and sustainable environment through tree and grass planting exercises. The group also promotes fruit supply.”

The CEO further stated that “The exercise will promote and improve food security, reduce poverty, enhance biodiversity and promote climate resilience in vulnerable areas. The project involves massive and aggressive tree and grass planting and implementing sustainable land practices.”

Those responsible for the collection of the trees on behalf of their schools should contact Mr Barth Anyanji on 08087601322 and Dr Mrs Ngozi Dike on 09025419195. From the discussions with Umuaka Times, Mr Chukwuezi Ozioma Pat hinted that “Individual members can take responsibility for the transport, labour and other logistical expenses incurred. Furthermore, those who want their football fields to be grassed, re-grassed or open spaces filled, should contact us for negotiation.”

Digging deep to establish why such an exercise is needed in public schools, Umuaka Times local affairs correspondents came across a document that shows thus: – Environmental Education: Hands-on learning about ecology, conservation, and sustainability.
