Patience Jonathan pays condolence visit to Chief Ugwoegbu.
2 min readFormer First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame Mrs Patience Jonathan on Tuesday 2 September 2024, paid a condolence visit to Chief Festus Okey Ugwoegbu, the Ugwumba 1 of Umuaka in his Abuja residence. The visit which was in connection with the death of the father in-law of the Ugwumba Umuaka, was made with several high profile personalities in in the entourage of the former First Lady.
By the time the First Lady arrived at the residence of her host, the Ugwoegbus came out and received their august visitor and her team. In less than 2 minutes, the First Lady was ushered into the living room where she comfortably sat and with other guests who came along with her.
As the Igbo tradition demands, the host of the First Lady first presented kola nuts to the guests and after that, prayers were offered and the kola nuts were served. This was followed by assorted drinks that were also served. As this was going on, the First Lady and her host engaged in some jokes and realities about the country. She later extended the greetings from her husband, the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to Chief Ugwoegbu and his wife.
As all these were going on, the domestic servants were busy supplying several delicious delicacies to the visitors and neighbours who also came in to greet the former First Lady.
After the visitors had spent a quality time with the Ugwumbas, the First Lady consoled the bereaved family and thanked them for the classic reception.
In his response, Chief Festus Okey Ugwoegbu took the opportunity and thanked Dame Mrs Patience Jonathan for finding time to pay the family a condolence visit. He prayed to God to lead them safely home as the entourage was about to leave.
A US based high profile Akalite and the Principal Optometrist and CEO, Mekas Family Eyecare, Dallas Texas USA, Dr Nwokedi who was present during the visit also thanked the First Lady for the visit.
At 11 pm, the First Lady took off to her home as the Ugwumbas came out and waved them good bye and good night.
