Peaceland College graduate suggests ways to preserve Igbo language.
1 min readAn ex-student of Peaceland College of Education Umuaka Centre and a radio presenter of an Igbo program with Ojemba Radio, 106.1FM, Mrs Praise Chika Igwebuike has frowned over the rate Igbo language is dying by installments.
In outright terms, Mrs Igwebuike condemned the activities of some parents who by intention deprive their children the opportunity of learning Igbo language.
This disclosure was made last week when Umuaka Times visited the Hilltop Primary School Uba Umuaka satellite campus of the institution.
On the ugly development, Mrs Igwebuike told Umuaka Times that in one of her radio programs titled Suo Asusu Igbo, she usually teaches Igbo grammar during the program. She appealed to Igbo parents to always give their children the opportunity of learning and speaking Igbo language.
In her conclusion, she advocated that any primary or secondary school in Igboland which has no Igbo language teacher should close down pending when it hires an Igbo language teacher.
