Miss Perp Suzi Buzaji Obi, an Umuaka born Paralympics champion has appealed to some physically challenged Akalites to join the Paralympics games.  Perp Suzi who first represented Nigeria in 2002 Olympics in Australia in power lifting made this call when Umuaka Times engaged her recently in her Ugbele-Akah community. Perp Suzi told Umuaka Times that her performance in Australia placed her on the third position in the world.

While speaking with Umuaka Times in the recent interview she granted, she disclosed that she was the first Akalite to go for Paralympics and appealed to those with physical disabilities to try their best to move on.

“As far as you are physically challenged, it is not the end of the world. Note that your brain or some other parts of your body are intact and functioning very well. Use those functional parts of your body and capture the world,” Buzaji told Umuaka Times.

While giving the account of her Paralympics achievements and other games  she had taken part in globally, she confirmed that the game has opened doors for her and she is a well known figure around the world today.  She wondered where she could have been if she had gone into begging. “Before Australia, I had gone to Dubai for the Second World Championship, I also went to Cuba where I won one gold and one silver. In 2015, I also won gold in America under power lifting.”

With all these achievements, Perp Suzi confirmed that she has broken records and also set records around the world. “If I was a beggar, there was no way I could have achieved such.”

Before the interview came to an end, Perp Suzi told Umuaka Times that her talent in music is more pronounced than her talent in sports. Umuaka Times learnt that Perp Suzi has been making good music since the late 80s. She told Umuaka Times that she is still interested to push up her music career if she can secure a sponsor. She appealed to the general public to give her the connections to achieving her music dreams as she is not so active in power lifting anymore due to her age.
