Cherish Duruigbo writes Happy Birthday to a kind, good, generous and down to earth man, my loving and God-sent husband. Today, January 4th, I honour and celebrate you, a man of faith with deep love for God. Prof. Emeka Duruigbo (The Man of God). To know you is to know generosity. To know you is to know care and thoughtfulness. To know you is to know laughter and fun. To know you is to know hard work and diligence. Honey, you are truly a gift from God to me, your children and everyone whose life you have touched. My heart overflows with gratitude for you. I can’t begin to list how much my life has changed in close to two decades of being your wife, but I have come to publicly thank God today for keeping and preserving you to see another year.

My earth reflection of God’s nurturing heart. I remember the day I said YES to you. This YES has proven to be the best YES, I have said (aside salvation). You stole my heart 18 years ago and you never returned it. You have given me much more than I prayed, believed or imagined. You confirm each day by words, actions and even inactions, that I got more than I bargained for in YOU. The one person that can do anything for me.The one person that will cross the seas and climb the mountains for me. The one person that makes my heart leap for joy. The most beautiful thing about you is your total surrender to Jesus. You love him with all your strength, and that love makes you gentle, approachable and deeply refreshing to be around. Your passion for God and your pursuit of his glory have unlocked the very best version of you. You encounter no one without leaving them better than you met them.

My life is a testimony of that truth. You are God’s delivery points, carrying full package of purpose, grace and assignment. I am deeply grateful to walk this journey with you, and I promise to do my part to make it meaningful, fulfilling and beautiful for you. I pray that God will fully accomplish his calling in your life, that every purpose he has for you will come to pass. You will remain focused, obedient and intentional, accomplishing every instruction and every assignment God places in your hands.
I proudly call you My King, My reward on earth, My spiritual Head, My Mentor, My coach, My Pastor, My lover and My Husband.
Thank you for being authentic in a spurious world. Thank you for all you have done for me and the children. Thank you for the love you show us.
Thank you for the gifts you lavish on us. Thank you for making Jesus proud every day. Thank you for being a present and stable father to our children. Thank you for the love you have for your students. Thank you for your consistent weekly Bible fellowship with them. Thank you for listening and praying for them and their families. Thank you for role modeling to the children and I consistency, discipline, integrity, prayer, passion for God, honesty, compassion for our generation. The list is endless.
We have been through thick and thin in this journey together and still standing by the grace of God.
